HERB LIGHT BRINGS BACK 1989 VERSION OF SHORTSTOP OZZIE GUILLÉN TO LAUNCH DOUBLE PLAY COOZIE

Chicago White Sox Icon Ages Down to 80’s Form to Help Fans Turn Two As Pennant Chase Heats Up

CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- As baseball season heats up, Herb Light, the non-alcoholic super-low dose cannabis brew, has launched a new product that makes holding multiple cold Herb Lights at once easier than ever: The Limited Edition Herb Light x Ozzie Guillén Double Play Coozie. It’s an extra tall coozie that can keep two cans cold at once, so during baseball’s high-stakes playoff run fans can keep it cool with multiple cold cans of the brewed beverage and only 1mg of THC each.

To announce the unique accessory, the brand has partnered with an elite defensive shortstop who made 1,223 double plays over the course of his career, former Chicago White Sox player and World Series-winning manager Ozzie Guillén - specifically, Ozzie Guillén from the year 1989. A new film released today on Herb Light’s Instagram features footage of a young Ozzie Guillén in the late eighties, on a field clad in a Herb Light jersey, talking about how when he goes to the cooler on a sunny day for a non-alcoholic beer, “I don’t like to get just one out, I like to get two outs.” Then, holding two Herb Lights in a Double Play Coozie in one hand, he fields a ball and oddly throws it with his glove.

It’s all part of the 1980’s light beer brand world Herb Light and creative agency Quality Meats has created, from its nostalgic 80’s packaging to its retro commercials and jingle to its Instagram wall featuring actual 80s photos with Herb Light present. To create the film, the brand used Ozzie’s real present-day voice and recreated his 80’s likeness using AI.

“Light beers in the 80s were all about branded merch, catchy jingles and athlete endorsements. In other words, they were fun. Being the crushable light beer of non-alcoholic THC beverages, we're following that playbook," says Herb Light Co-Founder Brian Siedband. “Only our branded coozie holds two cans, and our athlete hasn’t technically played baseball in over two decades.”

“As a shortstop, I’m always trying to turn a double play, because two outs is better than one,” says former professional baseball player and World Series-winning manager, Ozzie Guillén. “Now I can finally get that same feeling of getting two outs when I go to the cooler. It’s like I’ve been waiting 38 years for this Double Play Coozie to come out.”

Herb Light entered the marketplace earlier this summer, led by Quality Meats co-founders Gordy Sang and Brian Siedband along with business partner Jonathan Schiff, as an easy-to-drink, low-dose THC equivalent of a light beer. It’s currently available in a variety of off-premise locations in Chicago including Foxtrot Market and Beer Temple, on-premise locations including Sluggers Bar, Bub City and Joe’s, and online with shipping available to 28 states. While recent activations including recent “Yacht Rock On a Yacht” Party on Lake Michigan and a collab with Chicago’s Crust Fund Pizza, this marks the brand’s first product activation and celebrity partnership.

The Limited Edition Herb Light x Ozzie Guillén Double Play Coozie is currently available for purchase at drinkherblight.com/coozie, for an additional $5.99 with every Herb Light case during the month of September, catch it while supplies last.
